Founding Story

Founding Story Life For Strays

Life For Strays was founded in 2020 by Ritika and Akash, with a simple belief — every life deserves compassion, even those forgotten on the streets.

One day, we came across a small, paralysed puppy who had been brutally hit by a vehicle. His tiny body was broken, and he could no longer walk. He was in immense pain, abandoned, and fighting for his life. Without hesitation, we rescued him, arranged immediate medical treatment, and gave him the care he desperately needed.

🌿 A New Beginning: 1-Acre Shelter (Work in Progress)

To help more animals and build a safer future for strays, Life For Strays is now building a new shelter on one acre of land. Construction is currently in progress. This new space will allow us to:

Rescue and house more injured and abandoned animals. Provide better medical care and recovery facilities
From one paralysed puppy in 2020, to a growing shelter, and now a one-acre dream in progress  Life For Strays is a journey built on courage, compassion, and commitment.

We continue with the same promise with which we began:
to protect the voiceless, to heal the suffering, and to turn pain into protection — one life at a time.

  • Feed hungry strays on the streets

  • Rescue injured and abandoned animals

  • Provide emergency medical treatment

Vision

Our vision is to create a compassionate world where no stray animal is left to suffer, where every life is valued, and where kindness replaces cruelty. We dream of a future where every stray finds safety, love, and the right to live without fear.

Mission

At Life For Strays, our mission is to rescue, protect, and rehabilitate injured, blind, paralysed and abandoned animals by providing timely medical treatment, safe shelter, nutritious food, and unconditional care. We work tirelessly to reduce suffering on the streets through rescue operations, sterilization drives, feeding programs, and community awareness giving every stray a chance at a healthier, safer, and dignified life.

How To Adopt

Compassion backed by responsibility and action

At Life For Strays, compassion guides every decision, but responsibility shapes every action. We believe animal welfare is not just about rescue but about long term commitment, ethical care, and sustainable impact. Each rescue is carefully assessed, medically treated, and followed through with rehabilitation. We document cases, maintain transparency with donors, and ensure that every contribution is used effectively. Our shelter operations are designed to prioritise hygiene, safety, and comfort for animals who have already suffered enough. We work closely with local communities, volunteers, and supporters to build awareness and create safer environments for animals. With the construction of our new one acre shelter, we are expanding our ability to help more animals while improving medical and recovery facilities.

Frequently Asked Questions

Clear answers for those who want to support responsibly

Donations are used directly for rescue operations, medical treatment, surgeries, shelter maintenance, food, medicines, staff support, and infrastructure development. For campaigns like shelter construction or paralysed care units, funds are allocated strictly for those purposes. We believe in complete transparency and regularly share updates with donors.
